Heavy rain continues to sweep across Port Moresby causing damage and flooding.
The Post Courier reported the current wet weather experienced nationwide has caused damage to vital infrastructures such as roads, bridges, buildings, power poles and others throughout the country.
The continuous rain has also affected residents of Tagua community with soil erosion and water damage. Paga Hill Development Company (PHDC) encourages residents to stay safe and work together with the clean up on their individual blocks of land and the communal areas.
CEO of Paga Hill Development Company, Gudmundur (Gummi) Fridriksson said PHDC will support the Tagua Community Development Committee with the clean up by providing tools to assist in clearing soil erosion due to heavy rain.
“This morning we delivered shovels and tools to help residents to drain water from the affected areas and clear soil from landslip on the hill.”
PHDC continues to support the Tagua Community Development Committee following the formal handover of the land last October.
“Last week we [PHDC] provided K10,000 worth of rocks, cement and sand to build retainer walls,” he said.
The weather forecast shows more heavy rain in the coming days. PHDC hope all residents stay safe and follow weather advice and warnings.
